Alabama Power offers a time-of-use (TOU) rate to business customers to charge fleet PEVs. Alabama Power also offers a TOU rate to residential customers that own a PEV. To be eligible, both business and residential customers must separately meter electricity used for PEV charging. Effective January 1, 2020, PEV owners must pay an annual fee in addition to standard registration fees. All-electric vehicle owners must pay an annual fee of $200 and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle owners must pay an annual fee of $100. Beginning July 1, 2023 and every fourth year thereafter, PEV fees will increase by $3.
